INSTALL DRIVER PRINTER DI UBUNTU 9.10

Sebelumnya saya sangat berterima kasih kepada pihak Canon yang telah mendukung opensource dengan membuatkan driver untuk produknya agar bisa beroperasi di Linux, khususnya Ubuntu dari Canonical.

Baiklah, berikut langkah-langkah memasang driver printer Canon seri 19XX:
  1. Download file libcupsys2. Ini fungsinya sebagai library printer yang nantinya akan digunakan oleh driver printer untuk beroperasi
  2. Download file ip1900_debian_printer.
  3. Tempatkan dua file tersebut di direktori home. Ini untuk memudahkan dalam melakukan ekstraksi dan penginstalan
  4. Sekarang buka aplikasi terminal
  5. Ketikkan pada terminal: tar-xf iP1900_debian_printer.tar lalu enter. Perintah ini akan mengekstrak file yang ada di ip1900_debian_printer.tar
  6. Kemudian ketikkan perintah sudo dpkg -i libcupsys2*.deb untuk memasang library printer. Ketikkan password jika diminta oleh sistem
  7. Ketikkan perintah sudo dpkg -i cnijfilter*.deb untuk memasang driver printer
  8. Setelah berhasil memasang file yang diperlukan, tancapkan kabel printer ke komputer dan nyalakan
  9. Biasanya Ubuntu akan secara otomatis melakukan pemasangan alat baru seperti printer
  10. Selesai. Anda dapat melakukan test print atau langsung mencetak pekerjaan anda.
Pada panduan yang saya tulis ini sebisanya saya buat mudah. Libcupsys2 sebaiknya diinstall terlebih dahulu sebelum driver Canon dipasang, dengan demikian proses pemasangan akan menjadi lancar.
Selain libcupsys2 ada juga libcups2 yang awalnya saya kira sama. Ternyata keduanya berbeda, libcups2 tidak bisa menggantikan libcupsys2.

Before you install the printer Canon PIXMA ip1980 on Linux Operating System Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope, make sure that you already have a driver’s from the Canon Sites. Software is provided by the canon developer in 2 format different (. deb and. rpm).

Select the file .deb and follow the instructions on the screen and appear Debian Linux Printer Driver, Downloads lived only driver package [iP1900_debian_printer.tar].

After the download package, extract it using the command:

tar-xf iP1900_debian_printer.tar

now check the results extract the file with the command

ls

make sure the results are as follows:

Cnijfilter-common_3.00-1_i386.deb
Cnijfilter-common-3.00-1.tar.gz
Cnijfilter-ip1900series_3.00-1_i386.deb

Immediately install the .deb package using the command

Sudo dpkg-i *. deb cnijfilter -

[cnijfilter-*. deb] means the command is installation at once all debian packages are named prefix cnijfilter and contain the name cnijfilter.

Following reports the results of the installation:

Wow, there was a problem package depedency need to configure and more:

libcupsys2 package is not installed.

Command only:

sudo apt-get install libcupsys2

the progress is displayed:

because I was in Jakarta, Indonesia I directed them to mirror ftp://kambing.ui.edu

After that check the library for ip1980 with the command:

then the result like this:

If the library is already OK, connect the printer and waiting a minute to ubuntu finishing. Use the test page to print testing.
